It seems only a matter of time now before things start to unravel very quickly. The longer it takes the worse it will be. So why not do something – starting tomorrow – that will not only speed up the process but make things easier for yourself in the long run?
Certain banks are unlikely to survive for much longer. So why not get all of your money that you can out of these failing institutions now and put it in The Post Office. It might be wise to let your friends and relations know about this whilst they still have time

I was thinking more about any cash/savings. Without deposits they can’t survive. If they are going down anyway, do you really want to go through the compensation-scheme process to get your money back?
Borrowing money off them may not be such a good idea. I don’t think they’ll be allowed to go bust – just nationalised. So someone would come chasing you for it.
StrongholdBarricades seems to have had a moderator-bypass operation. Just shows how clueless the moderators are – they haven’t even noticed.

I have to say I was toying a bit with that idea or moving with the Co-op or a bank that encourages ethical investment etc. My bank is actually HSBC off which there has been very little said. I have some savings and am thinking about moving them.
I did post something along the line of using the post office on RP’s blogs a few weks ago after Mandelson suddenly realised the PO was a bank.
I do agree one bank has got to go so we might as well get it over with, burst the abcess, start from scratch. Either use the Post Office, or Northern Rock.
Of course the big backlash may start over the Post Office

May be all posts should be emailed to him so they get posted immediately.
Am slightly concerned about the tone of those blogs though, it was posted they are a diversion a couple of days ago but I do wonder how much they are watched as a thread for unrest.
Are they just scaremongering, will this be used to justify an even huger police exercise during the G20 summit
Anyway in the meantime the diversion works alright!

I should think the G20 will be one of the biggest turn-offs in town. Who in the real world is interested in what a bunch of “experts”in politics and economics have to say? These people operate in their own little word – why not leave them to it and just ignore them? Paying attention only encourages them.

I was thinking of doing the same, I’m going to research it bit more next week.
Re: HSBC. I read that they have not suffered as much as some other banks due to being a bit more cautious. A turn up for the books to be sure.

I moved to the co-op bank afew weeks ago and feel better for it. Anything that even vaguely feels like positive action lifts the burden alittle.
it is ion truth a very compelling weapon for people to vote with their savings and current accounts as I have.
Who wants to keep thier savings in RBS for goodness sake and in so doing in part fund the dicredited chief execs pension?
I think that kind of positive action could catch on quite quickly, is simple to do and would really hit the authorities where it hurts.

I am still around and commited just hugely overstretched at the moment for many reasons I will not bore you with, just waiting for a window of opportunity to do more. I still try to at least post here or on the beeb a couple of times a day.

I would suggest you don’t use the Post Office. It’s actually Irish banks behind the scenes so you might be better off burning it – at least it’ll keep you warm for a couple of minutes.
I had also thought of the CO-OP but they are now merely an internet bank. I like someone to shout at when they get it wrong!
